At the request of APS, Componence has created Onderwijs Anders NU, an innovation platform for education professionals, based on the Liferay Portal 6.1 Enterprise Edition.

APS provides consultancy-services, support, training, and evaluation assignments, nationwide as well as internationally, based on their extensive experience and accumulated knowledge of effective learning strategies and education.
Their core aim is to develop effective instruction methods for learners, tutors and school-boards, assisting their customers in designing optimal conditions for their ideal work- and learning-environment.
Challenge
APS is looking to create an advanced themed website called Onderwijs Anders NU, offering an independent platform to professionals interested in innovative educational methods.
Onderwijs Anders NU should encourage knowledge-sharing and cooperation, providing temporary ‘workplaces' which its users are free to develop and maintain. Personal expert advice should be available to visitors who are logged in.
APS believes that a combination of a clear infrastructure and various social networking tools, is crucial for the success of this site.
Solution
Componence has developed an independent community based on the Liferay Portal 6.1 Enterprise Edition, which provides the required scalability and structure, offering an extensive package of standard functionalities, including highly adaptable social networking tools which meet the specific demands of APS.
Education professionals are able to create an individual user-role and identity, allowing for the delivery of personalised content.
Componence completes the project within the available timeframe and budget, and the Liferay team continues to extend the social-networking structure with a number of customised-portlets. These community-portlets allow visitors to the site to create their own personalised workplace where they can publish and discuss their innovative ideas, inviting the input of various education experts.
Further improvements are implemented on the standard Liferay interface which results in an even more appealing look.
Onderwijs Anders NU is a secure website and whilst it supports real-time activities happening within the online community, the site also provides a wide range of functionalities for information- and knowledge-sharing.
APS plans to create even more opportunities for registering and maintaining topic-related events, as well as develop a new Liferay platform for the Pestweb website.
